This is not an easy question to answer.  Depending on where your home is located on the canals you could be a few minutes to the river, or a couple of hours.  Once in the river you can be 15-30 minutes to the Gulf.

Fresh water canals do not lead out to the River, so they have no Gulf Access. They are self contained canal systems and some have a small area for boating, while others have a lot of boating available.
